What is Padel

Padel is a modern racket sport built around fast play, teamwork, and strategy. It is most often played in doubles on an enclosed court, where the walls are part of the game and rallies stay active longer.

The court is smaller than a traditional tennis court, which makes the game more accessible and less dependent on power. Serves are delivered underhand, and solid rackets are used instead of strings, helping new players learn quickly while still offering challenge for experienced athletes.

Padel is known for being social and engaging. Games move quickly, points remain in play, and teamwork is essential. These qualities have contributed to padel becoming one of the fastest growing sports worldwide.

At CHHRC, padel is offered on three indoor courts, creating a consistent year round space for recreation, instruction, and community play.

No. Padel is beginner friendly and easy to learn. Many players are able to enjoy the game from their first session. Clinics and lessons are a helpful way to get started.

Many new players begin with a clinic or lesson to learn basic rules and positioning, then transition into open play or court rentals.

Padel is enjoyed by a wide range of ages. Individual participation may depend on comfort level and program availability.

Padel is typically played in doubles, with two players on each team.

Match length can vary depending on format and level of play. Games are designed to keep rallies active and engaging rather than focusing on extended match time.

Padel is played using solid rackets rather than traditional strung rackets. Tennis style balls are also used. Equipment availability and requirements may vary.

No. Padel paddle rentals are available on site for $10. Balls are provided for open play, clinics, and lessons, so you can show up and play without needing to bring your own gear.

Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis.

  • Points are scored as 15, 30, 40, and game

  • A game must be won by two points

  • Matches are typically played as best of three sets

  • A set is won by the first team to win six games with a two game lead

  • If a set reaches 6–6, a tiebreak is usually played

Scoring is familiar to anyone who has played or watched tennis, making padel easy to follow for new players.
