Celebrate with us! It’s NATIONAL KICK BUTT DAY!
“If something stands between you and your success, move it. Never be denied.” The Rock
I’m tired. I’m too busy. I travel too much to eat healthy. The kids have homework and sports. I can’t afford to eat healthy. I don’t know how to use the machines at the gym. I can’t afford to join a gym. I don’t have time to cook. These are some of the excuses I hear regularly from people who have convinced themselves that working out and eating a balanced diet is unattainable. My advice has always been, and will always be – if you’re able to move your body, then move it! Move it for the people who can’t and wish they could. Most importantly move it for yourself.
Monday, October 14th is National Kick Butt Day and I am challenging you to kick any/all excuses to the curb! I am here to say it is never too late to start something new. A job. A workout. A relationship. A healthier diet. National Kick Butt Day is all about giving yourself an extra boost of motivation to accomplish your goals no matter what they are.
I have always been an athlete and have always loved working out, but I have also taken long breaks over the years for various reasons. I haven’t always eaten a balanced diet. Breaks are ok in life, as long as they don’t last forever. I will tell you this; when I’m working out and eating a balanced diet, I feel the best about myself both mentally and physically. I promise you will feel the same way. I have been consistent with my workouts and eating habits for several years now and can honestly say that I’ve never felt better. Working out and eating a balanced diet absolutely go hand and hand. Consider them your lifestyle BFFs.
My goals in the gym are simple. Move. There is no vision in my head of how I should look. If you have a vision in your head of how you should look, sadly you are setting yourself up for failure. Let it go. I know that exercising several times a week makes me feel great about myself. I don’t ever feel jealous of how other people look. I am me. I do my best. That is enough. You are enough. Once you adapt to that mind frame, I promise you will drop any self-doubt you may carry around. Our bodies are our most valuable assets in this life. Our bodies are machines, what we put into them is what we get out of them. If you are not working out or eating a balanced diet – chances are you are not feeling so great right now. Always remember, you can change that in 1 day. One. Single. Day. Start small, keep your goals attainable. Eat 1 healthier meal a week, then 2, then 3. Workout for 10 minutes a day, then 20, then 30. If you set unrealistic goals from the beginning, the chances of failing are higher. It is truly all about taking baby steps.
