My Experience Taking Fitness Classes in Cherry Hill

My Experience Taking Fitness Classes in Cherry Hill

If you are anything like me, you may have re-committed to your health & fitness goals recently. Whether your goal is to lose weight, get active, or improve your athleticism, the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club has so much to offer. I started blogging for The Club last fall and have made progress in my weight loss journey. I love using the machines in the Woman’s Fitness Area and detoxing in the sauna, but in the words of the great philosopher, Ciara: “It’s time to LEVEL UP.”

I wanted to try something different and challenge my body to shed some more pounds. I checked out the group exercise schedule as a way to get my sweat on! Did you know that recent research published by The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, has shown that group classes can be even more beneficial to your overall health than working out independently? This early study is a good indicator of what can happen when groups of people come together to work on a task.

The Club has a variety of classes offered throughout the day. I checked out the schedule with a vast array of choices and decided on Summit Cycle and Mossa Group Core.  By having a specific time on my calendar to go to the gym, I immediately felt more accountable for making it happen on the hard days. I enjoyed and returned to every class and ended up with the bonus of making new connections while there. (Hey, new friends!)

If you’re looking for a place to stay active, connect with others, or lose weight in South Jersey, you should check out the class schedule at CHHRC. Here’s a quick peek into two of my favorite classes:

What to expect at Summit Cycle:

The indoor cycling room received a facelift a few months ago, setting the atmosphere to get your mind into the workout zone. As soon as I walked into my first class, I felt like I was in a fun club with an upbeat music mix and glowing lights. According to Women’s Health Magazine, you can burn anywhere from 400 to 600 calories in one 45 minute cycling session. The coolest thing about spinning on the bike is that you’re having too much fun bouncing to the music and before you know it, you made it to the finish line.

The Summit Cycle Class is an intense workout using intervals to get your heart pumping. Towards the end of the exercise, we used light weights to push to the next level while riding. The instructors of the class are in the hustle with you. They never yell or bark at you, but give just the right motivation to keep you going. Each bike has a monitor so that you can adjust the level of difficulty on the gears and your speed. Seeing how you’re doing during the ride keeps your workouts challenging and helps you to improve your output throughout the weeks.

If you haven’t tried a cycle class, go get your spin on. You won’t regret it.

What to expect at Mossa Group Core:

If you’re looking for a full-body and intense workout, you have to try Mossa Group Core. And the best part? It’s only a 30-minute class. With three girls under five, a homeschooling schedule, a business for moms, and a partridge in a pear tree, I don’t exactly have much free time. I can’t be the only one who struggles to fit working out into the busy days!

You should expect some balance work, squats, weighted core work, planks and pushups, and lots of use of the stepper bench. The instructors give clear instructions, so I never found myself fumbling around. The shortness of the class means that you won’t be spending too much time on one exercise, which was nice because I didn’t leave feeling fatigued and could tackle my day.

I believe this class is making a significant impact on my journey since it’s essential to utilize strength training in weight loss. I think we can rename the Mossa Group Core Class to Transforming Your Body in 30 Minutes a Day!

No matter your personal goals, you should pick up a class at The Club. There are so many to choose from, including Zumba, Yoga, Basecamp Barr, and more. Click here for a current schedule of classes offered.
